Maidu Museum

Located in Roseville, California, it is twenty-five miles northeast of Sacramento. The museum has indoor displays and an outdoor area with a self-guided trail through the Maidu village site.

There are also special events throughout the year where visitors can meet Native Americans and experience traditional activities like basket weaving and flint knapping (the working of stone tools).

The first phase of construction at the present location was completed in January 2001. Plans for expansion include adding on to existing buildings as well as building new ones to support increased programming and visitation at this popular site. Expanded facilities will allow more people to connect with the Maidu people and their history.

The Museum is dedicated to understanding the past, sharing the rich culture of the Maidu Nation, connecting visitors to each other through education, appreciation, and respect for all cultures.
