If you like to drink, plan a trip to Newcastle, CA. Here you will find enough Vineyards and breweries to keep you busy. First, there is Dona dal Cielo vineyard. Visitors report reasonable tasting fees, and friendly service. They also report that you’ll need your GPS to find the place, but definitely worth looking for. Their outdoor picnic area is on a hill overlooking the stage so it’s a great place to taste, eat, and enjoy your wine.

Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail
If you aren’t interested in beers and wines, you can check out the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail which is not far from Newcastle. Also known as the American River Bike Trail, you will see giant redwood groves that are awe inspiring.
