A Better Place to Live

In the past several years, North Highlands has put a lot of effort into improving their image.  Clean up and beautification efforts have been underway.  The Sacramento County Sheriff’s department has also invested more time into monitoring the area and an additional security force has been hired.  All these efforts have gone a long way toward making North Highlands a good place to live today. McClennan Air Force Base

McClennan near North Highlands was originally established as a maintenance facility for military aircraft in 1935. At that time, it was known as the Pacific Air Depot and the Sacramento Air Depot. After a while it was named for Major Hazekiah McClennan.  It went through several more name changes through the years, but the McClennan name stuck.  By 1993 the base was chosen for closure and was turned into the Aerospace Museum of California.  It’s a very interesting museum.
